TSA Rant

Warning: this is an angry rant- not anti American, not anti-immigrant, just a rant against sheer stupidity.

So, who trains these guys? I get to the airport an hour and forty five minutes in advance of my flight. Bags are packed appropriately for travel. Laptop is in backpack, in suitcase and purse is in hand.
I arrive at the back of the line and a guy who looks just like the cab driver who just let me off at the curb tells me to get my boarding pass out. I pull out the back pack to get the boarding pass and he tells me, "maam, you have too many bags". I remind him I just pulled the pack out of the suitcase and I'll put it back once through security. He stands his ground, "ma'am I have to size the bags and you have too many." Yes, I understand. Once I'm through security I'll put this all away. "ma'am you can only have two bags." Right, but I just pulled this out...

I realize I'm about one sentence away from getting hauled off to Guantanimo, so I stuff everything back in the suitcase, so I can get in line and then once at the conveyor belt, I pull everything out again-which I do willingly.

Again, I ask, who trains these guys? Seems like there was an entire training section on "obvious & reasonable" that was omitted from the curriculum.

I get through security just fine, after pulling everything, including the so-called extra bag, out and placing them all flat on the conveyor belt. I pack everything back up, neat and tidy, and head down to my gate to catch my 6:30 a.m. flight to Nashville. I really have to wonder what that entire exercise had to do with protecting our national security. "Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?"
