Jacques-imos

We arrived at Louis Armstrong airport in New Orleans @ 6 pm and were greeted by Diana, Harvey, and one of my oldest friends, Jane, here from Australia. It had been four years since I had last seen Jane. We share a history that began with a stint as GOs at Club Med in Guadeloupe.

The five of us proceeded directly to our three bdr house in the Historic Garden District. It was lovely in it's 1800s glory- hard wood floors, ceiling fans, and a touch of modern with its updated kitchen. We proceeded to Jacques-imos for a rousing Southern feast of southern bbqd shrimp, blackened red fish, fried chichen, and a treat of aligator and shrimp cheesecake (savory). The meal was completed by a coconut bread pudding.

The great thing about New Orleans, especially during jazz fest is that you can talk to anyone and everyone like you've known each other for years. This happened tonight as an old fortune teller approached our table, first announcing to the group that I ws "cuter than a Teddy bear stuffed with cotton candy". He followed that with, you're cuter than a cross- eyed frog." so what does one do when showered with compliments? You dance. I put one of his war buds in my ear and we danced to his boogaloo. As they say down here, laissez les bons temps roulez!
