I love that my friends are embracing doing different. I was invited to join a group of friends to go see their yoga instructor perform with her dance troup, Dance/Theater Shannon. We met for a quick bite and then strolled down to The Garage on Howard for the performance. Based on its name and the size of the venue, it's pretty safe to say that this little theater was in fact a garage at one time. There were probably less than 40 seats, so the 5 of us made up a good percentage of the not-quite sold out performance.
There were two pieces. One was simply indescribable. It had something to do with in utero gender assignment. It was broken out into two minute segments where three people moved and spoke about where they were, internal, external, etc. Towards the end they invited audience members to join them. Brave Kate slipped off her shoes and joined in.
I did not.
Piece number two provided a break from dance as I found myself in my happy place--sleeping. I had warned my friends not to take it personally, I can sleep through pretty much anything, and this was no exception. I leaned my head against the wall, pulled my coat up around me and found myself in dreamland with a gentle sound of feet pattering on the hard wooden floor. A perfect end to the work week.

Wendy, you've shown me that it's possible to both review a performance *and* achieve REM sleep at the same time.
Thank you,
