A Little Luxury

It was around 10:30 p.m. when we decided that "in room viewing" at the Fairmont had our names on it. We quickly arrived from our Senzana outing, dropped the car off with the valet, and scrambled up the elevator and into our cozy, plush room.

What I love most about nice hotels: great beds, fantastically high thread count sheets, bath samples, clean white bathrobes, and current movies you can watch in bed. We watched "Julie and Julia" (part of my Oscar prep). It was a sweet little movie. Sure, Meryl's performance was 100% believable, but the movie itself was fluff. If she wins it, it should be for "It's Complicated" - a more complex performance, and overall better movie.

I loved the room at the Fairmont, and if it hadn't been for the ridiculously noisy neighbors who felt that 2:30 a.m. was party time, it would have been a perfect little get away. I'm hoping I got even with them though...I yanked their "Do Not Disturb" off their door as we headed out for breakfast at 10:30. Hopefully the maid came by and woke their loud asses up. Revenge can be sweet.

  • Life Changing: 1 (So far, nothing has been life changing. I may ditch this rating factor.)
  • Fun: 4 (the bed was yummy)
  • Easy to implement: 1 (a credit card gets you in)
  • Worthy of repetition: 4 (San Jose - maybe not, but the whole luxury hotel is NICE!)
  • Try This: 4 (if you got the do-re-mi)
  • Cost: 4 (on-line special: $124)
