Date Night

Not that going to a movie is really that different, but I didn't pull a blanket over my head and lay on the couch in a Friday night popcorn coma. I joined friends Kirsten, Maddy, and Kelly at the Grand Lake Theater for opening night of "Date Night".

this is undoubtedly one of the best comedys made in a long time - laugh out loud, tuck your head into your armpit (I can't watch) funny. Tina Fey and Steve Carrel are a great team. The script is well crafted, the lines well delivered and it's well-paced. It's less than two hours and the movie just flies by. It never dragged, the comedy bits are fresh - there wasn't anything to not like about his film. And parts just rang true for married couples. There were definitely parts from which real-life experience was drawn. Without giving the movie away (though many of the good bits are on the trailer), Tina Fey starts to get into bed with her bleaching tray in her mouth, signaling they are going "to sleep", not "to bed". Steve indicates disappointment, and she says, "I can rally. We can do a quickie". That said, the love shows between them, but they've fallen into a rut and they need to do something...different.

Need I say more?
