Tiki Taki

Michael turned the big 4-0 in March and today (ok, a little late), Dayna threw a lovely party for him at the Conga Lounge in Rockridge. The afternoon was filled with good food and good friends. People came from far (Seattle) and wide (San Francisco and the Peninsula) to celebrate a friend's birthday.

What better place to have a party than a Tiki Bar? And who doesn't love a Tiki Bar? You've got umbrella drinks, plastic stir sticks with flamingos and pineapples, and 70's furniture. In fact, there is an entire world of tacky that goes with the tiki: the fake bamboo on the walls, plastic pineapple spears with tiki gods, and what would a tiki bar be without "Blue Hawaii" playing on the t.v.? the Conga lounge had all of this.

Thankfully our dear friends did not require tiki attire. I'm sure I could have rallied, but with the rain, the last thing I wanted to do this afternoon was to pull out my coconut shell bra, swishy grass skirt and flip flops.
