Taking Advantage

Temperature: mid-60s-check. Skies: clear blue-check. Husband available- check. With all systems a go we headed down Lakeshore Avenue on our bikes riding together for the first time in 20 years.

John followed behind me to ensure my safety. The great thing about Oakland is that the city is very bike friendly. large bike lines have been created in our neighborhood and around the lake. Going for a leisurely ride is a breeze. For the most part it's flat and one can ride casually while enjoying the view of sea birds, the gondola and people jogging. And on Sunday, the drivers were courteous as we rode casually.

I did have a few minor issues getting going in too high of a gear and my chain came off just as I was starting to ride up the hill. John was there to show me how to pop it on so it was perfect timing to learn a valuable skill. In the mean time, we were able to enjoy each others company, lower stress and get a little exercise. It was a perfect evening.
