I was pummeled by ads - get AT&T Uverse; record up to four shows at one time; get faster internet service, set a show to record from your phone, all of these promises, and maybe more. So I did it. I bundled. I had purchased the iPhone and at the same time took advantage of their $300 back when you switch--everything, to AT&T.
I was unhappy with Dish Network anyway. Ever since we switched to their HD DVD player, we've had nothing but trouble. The satellite goes out. The DVD player sticks and then has to re-set entirely (a very long and frustrating 10 minute process which will kill anything you're recording), and every the shows will occasionally record a little jumbley - like there's interference. So it will cost us a little money to break the contract, but that $300 will cover it. Everything is digital and cabled, and connected. It's like an electronics anatomy lesson. (Everybody sing: the iPhone's connected to the t.v., the t.v.'s connected to the internet, the internet's connected to the 'puter, and that's how the system works!)
Now we've got a whole new system to learn - oh boy (insert sarcastic emoticon here). So I spent the night reading directions and reprogramming all of our favorite shows. It's exactly how I love spending my time off, almost as good as doing taxes. (Did the sarcastic emoticon show up automatically with my new Uverse?)
But I'm happy to say that so far, the process has been somewhat painless - just time consuming. Our entire world is now locked and loaded with AT&T. I pray that they are "too big to fail" because the last thing I want to do is spend another Friday night programming my DVR.
