Girl time

When I opened my store seven years ago I pretty much gave up everything that had been important to me: time with friends, family, travel, and shopping. There's no shopping when there's no money. When the shopping stopped the catalogs stopped. This may sound very in-pc, but I loved getting stacks and stacks of catalogs. I looked forward to getting home to find surprises in my mailbox each day. I also enjoyed the process of hanging out with girlfriends reviewing what we liked, didn't like and "had to have". Not great for the savings account, but great fun.

Last night I joined Sarah for a little C&C-chat and catalog. Just like the old days we sat with a stack (according to Sarah, a mere two days worth) and plowed over what was hot and what was not.

The down side to this triste is that you become afflicted with a common disease- the gimmes. It's a fairly common affliction that is easily transmitted through highly glossy paper. The only cure is a dose of reality, which is quite hard to come by. Normally reality is elusive, overshadowded by fantasy.

The good news for me last nightvwas that I came away from Sarah's the beneficiary of a hand-me down gift of beautiful jewelry- an exquisite piece which had been given to a friend, never worn, given to Sarah, never worn, then given to me--wearing now. I love the nevcklace, thank you Sarah, loved the girl time and thankfully have not yet been afflicted with the gimmes.
