After a full day gorging on musical munchies, from the savory sounds of Gospel, to the bittersweetness of the blues, we sated ourselves with the actual consumption of BBQ at "Squeal".
However Howlin' Wolf nightclub provided a sweet ending to our vacation. Zigaboo Modeliste held his second annual Drummers Commeth. This mélange of musicians included Zigaboo himself, Stanton Moore and his Galactic bass player, local man about town Johnny Vidocovich, legend Herman Ernest, and a fine brass section including former Bay Area saxaphonist Norbert Statchel.
You might think that hearing, "so three drummers were on a stage" is a joke, but it was no laughing matter when they busted into some deep grooves. This evening provided just the right amount of groove, funk and soul to round out our holiday.
